If you were a student in Ancient Greece, which god do you think should be the mascot of your Ancient Greek middle school?

Explain WHY this god is the best choice.
Consider the values that are important to you in an education.

What are the qualities of a good education?
Which god best supports those values AND/OR which god has qualities that students at your school might want to possess?

* Describe the monster’s physical characteristics.
* Describe the area in which that monster is found.
* In what way was the monster impossible for most people to overcome? (Remember that heroes are people who can do things that are impossible for most people. What makes this monster impossible for most people to overcome?)
*What real-life thing or idea do you think the monster represents? WHY is that?

I suggest you open your Heroes chart as well. Was a hero able to defeat the monster you chose? How?

Amplify Vocabulary: ANNOUNCEMENT! in Google Classroom

Amplify Vocabulary: ANNOUNCEMENT!

Students:

I have been looking in the Amplify gradebook and have seen that many of you have not been completing vocabulary activities in the lessons for Subunit 6A!

When I have assigned vocabulary lessons, I have asked you to complete at least six vocabulary lessons per lesson. Some of you have complete above and beyond! Some of you have not completed any.

I have let you all know that I can adjust activities based on your experience level with the words in the unit. They are all sixth grade words!

I need you to check and see what you need to complete and make this work up.

I have entered the score of zero if you have not completed at least six activities in a lesson. If you completed at least six activities, you have earned six points.

In the next SubUnit, I will award points based on how many activities are correct; you will have to score at least six in order to receive six out of six points.

Mark this announcement as complete once you have read it!

Thank you,
Ms. Kole

ATTENDANCE POLICY in Google Classroom

ATTENDANCE POLICY

(Directions: please mark as complete after you have read the attendance policy. This will remain in GC the entire year.)

In order to receive credit for attendance in this class:
Teachers will be taking daily period attendance in Powerschool.
Per the SDUSD

● Teachers will document daily participation for each student on each school day.

● Daily participation may include, but is not limited to, evidence of participation in online
activities, completion of regular assignments, completion of assessments, and contacts
between the teacher, student, or parents/guardians.

● A student who does not participate daily in either onsite instruction or online learning shall
be deemed absent for purposes of reporting an absence.

If a student does NOT attend live class and there is no evidence the student was
engaged in asynchronous work, i.e, communication from student or parent, the student will be marked absent
at the end of the day.

The expectation is students attend live synchronous learning, unless they
communicated issues with access. IF THERE ARE TECHNICAL ISSUES PREVENTING ACCESS, PLEASE CONTACT THE TEACHER IMMEDIATELY!

Digital Citizenship in Google Classroom

Digital Citizenship

(Directions: please mark as complete after you have about digital citizenship. This will remain in GC the entire year.)

The key to being a successful online learner is engagement.

Listening, asking questions, attempting work, participating, and being respectful of others. We all know what that looks like. These are the same expectations we have when students are on campus.

We recommend students:

Be prepared
Make a work space
Eliminate distractions
Establish a routine
Engage
Chat responsibly
Communicate
Be respectful
