Ok, folks we are going to record and submit your video for "Dear Theodosia." We've talked in class about what works and what probably doesn't. Do your best and try to remember what we talked about. Make sure you:

Record your video using LANDSCAPE rather than Portrait mode
No hoodies or hats
Try to look at the camera
Sing out!
Be expressive
Make sure you listen to your accompaniment track using headphones (any will do) so your video only has your voice on it

If you have questions, you can post them on the stream here, and you can answer each other's questions...

I know some of you did this for last week...but the official due date will be this Friday...it has some tough stuff in it. If you have done it, you rock!

I want you to find some piece by Beethoven...and post the link to the video, and name the piece. For example, you could post a video of "Moonlight Sonata, Op. 13, no. 2"

Record yourself singing with the 1,121,12321,1234321 etc....but using solfege syllables, so it will be:
do, do re do, do re mi re do, etc....I am attaching a piano recording...

You need two devices to do this....play the recording I have attached, and sing along with it, on the syllables "mi-re-do, mi-re-do-ti-do"

Record your part of "Count on Me," while listening to the studio version of our CHORAL arrangement (not the radio version of the song). I'm attaching that.

Hey folks, let's do a cabaret of our own music. Ok, well, YOUR own music. We are going to put on a presentation of individual videos that YOU make, and send to me, and I'll present them in a giant Zoom meeting that you and your families nd friends will be invited to. This is optional--you don't HAVE to do it. And, it's going to be an audition-type thing. Our first step is for you to pick a song and audition. So:

1) Pick a song you'd like to perform. It can be any song. Not one of our choir songs, one that you like, one that you listen to, and would like to share. It can't have any inappropriate stuff in it. You know what that means! Language, content...just keep it clean.

2) Find a karaoke track. We're going to be doing this with music backgrounds, so you'll need the music, and it cannot just be the song. That is, we're not just singing along with Billie Eilish, for example. The singing will be YOU. You kind find karaoke tracks all sorts of places, but ultimately you're going to need an mp3 file that you sing along with and put on a video, so I'd think about buying one on iTunes or something. Most tracks are about .99 cents, so they're not that much.

3) Record yourself doing SOME of the song, and submit it to me for an audition. We will talk about this during class this week...this is not the finished product, it's just a way for me to see who knows their songs so I can pick. We'll do this a few times this year, I'm sure, so if you don't get picked for this first one, don't worry! You'll get a chance! We want to get these by this Friday afternoon...

Start thinking about your tunes--which one do you want to do? I'll give more instructions during class this week...this should be fun!
