GATE (Cluster/Seminar) Program Summary

Welcome to the GATE Corner,

Marshall Middle School is dedicated to providing differentiated instruction to support each of the unique student pathways. At MMS, our Seminar program classes are populated with Seminar identified students. Our Gate/Cluster program is a Model A. Model A is made up of a minimum of 50% GATE Cluster identified students. In order for non-identified students to be placed in GATE Cluster, the student must have "Exceeds Standard" rating in English on the SBAC (or its equivalent) or score between 90-97 percentile on the RAVEN.

At MMS, we are continually striving to introduce proven techniques and practices to enhance our programs. Over the past few years, MMS continues to evaluate and enhance its Seminar program. We incorporated a variety of methods to support our GATE Seminar students such as Socratic Seminar, Icons and Depth of Complexity, No-Opt-Out and a multitude of other strategies to challenge our students to think critically.

A brief synopsis of each of these methodologies is described on this page under their unique links.
